In 2023, we expanded our safety training programmes to cover crucial topics such as hazard identification, job safety analysis, basic fire response techniques, first aid procedures, and management of hazardous chemicals. Specialised training for personnel engaged in higher-risk activities, such as cyanide management, underscores our commitment to addressing the unique challenges of our operations.
Our site safety managers meticulously maintained up-to-date safety training records, ensuring full compliance and operational readiness. Despite operational challenges, our efforts in safety training marked a significant advancement, with 17,638 hours of training in 2023, a substantial increase from 13,464 hours in 2022. This demonstrates our ongoing dedication to the wellbeing and professional development of our workforce.
Community Engagement and Safety Initiatives
In 2023, we extended our safety initiatives beyond our operational sites to engage with the broader community. This included:
- Safety Awareness Campaigns: Launched via local radio stations in Bougoudalé and Yanfolila to enhance community safety awareness.
- Community Outreach: Fire safety campaigns in Soloba village and road traffic safety campaigns in Bougoudalé aimed at educating and preparing local communities for potential emergencies.
